An old digital camera and a couple of empty cartons is all it took for Maatikaar — a homegrown fusion jewellery design brand — to foray into the online space. 2 years and 10,000 Facebook followers later, Maatikaar has grown leaps and bounds.
Vasanthi Meattle, the founder of Maatikaar has worked with craftsmen from across the country to design the unique fusion jewellery. The designs are an amalgamation of multiple materials like wood, brass, glass, shell etc; with terracotta being the most prominent. After years of exhibiting her products at various exhibitions and outlets in Delhi, she decided to create a Facebook page to see if she could create some traction.
Soon enough, orders started to roll-in, even on WhatsApp!
“People like the personal touch of interacting with someone while buying something. You don’t always want to be staring at your computer screen and pretending to be a robot.” At Maatikaar, we involve the consumer in the process and give them alternatives to various designs etc.
“It’s all about trying to save time and doing better things with it”, says Vasanthi Meattle, Founder of Maatikaar, which now processes multiple orders through its Facebook page alone.
When it comes to payments, Maatikaar uses Instamojo as a payment option. “After the tedious process of finalising the order, I don’t want them to do an extra step of adding my account as a beneficiary. Instead, I just send them a link through Instamojo; saves time for everyone since I no longer need to constantly keep checking my bank account to know if the payment has reflected. It also enables us to despatch the order faster after the payment confirmation e-mail. Apart from saving time the customer feels safer paying through Instamojo rather than transferring money into a Facebook seller’s bank account”.
Maatikaar is one of the many Facebook sellers that Instamojo has given the freedom to #DoMore with their time.
