(i) 0 – 6 s (ii) 0 –9 s
b) Mention the time interval during which the object remained at rest.
(B) An object is dropped from the height of 49 m.
(a) Find the distance travelled by object
(i) before striking the ground.
(ii) in last second of its journey.
(b) Find the time taken by object before falling on the ground.
(c) Calculate the velocity with which it strikes the ground.
2.Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 - 60 words.
(A) Perform the activity at your home whose steps are given below with the help of an empty polythene bottle of mineral water and some hot water. After performing the activity answer the question that follows the steps:
Steps:
• Take an empty bottle of mineral water.
• Take some hot water in it and tightly screw its cap in order to make it airtight.
• Pour cold water on the bottle.
Do you observe any changes in the shape of the bottle on pouring the cold water? Explain your observation with reasons.
(B) Rakesh runs a laundry shop. Water in his locality does not form lather with soap. What is the term given to such water? Suggest some methods which can help Rakesh to get rid of this problem. (See Lesson - 26)

4.Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 - 150 words.
a)'X' is a chemical substance whose solution in water is used for white washing the walls. A small amount of substance 'X' is taken in a beaker. Then water is added to it slowly (as shown in figure). The side of the beaker is touched with the hand.
(a) Identify the substance ‘X’ and therefore write its common name, chemical name and chemical formula.
(b) Write the chemical equation for the chemical reaction between substance ‘X’ with water.
(c) Why water is added slowly to the beaker containing substance ‘X’?
(d) Classify the reaction discussed in part (b) as combination, decomposition, displacement or double displacement reactions. (See Lesson – 4
(B)French Chemist Antoine Lavoisier carefully studied chemical reactions by using a chemical balance in his setup. In an experiment he took a substance which is the only metal which exists in liquid state at room temperature and generally used in analogue thermometer. Then he heated this substance in a sealed flask containing air for several days. He observed a new red-coloured substance was formed. The gas remaining in the flask was reduced in mass. (See Lesson – 3)
(a) Write the name of any two of the following:
(i) The substance which was heated in a sealed flask.
(ii) New red-coloured substance which was formed after several days.
(iii) The gas used up in production of red coloured substance in the flask.
(iv) The remaining gas in the flask.
(b) Is the change that took place in the sealed flask: a chemical change or a physical change?
(c) Why the mass of the remaining gas in the flask reduced?
(d) Does reduction in the mass of gas remaining in the flask violate the law of conservation of mass? Explain briefly (See Lesson – 3)
5. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 - 150 words.
a) Explore the different kinds of living organisms found in your surroundings environment. Based on your observations write the common name and scientific name of the organisms belonging to different kingdoms of classification from your surroundings in general, at appropriate places in the following table: (See Lesson – 19)
(Redraw the following table in your response sheet. Attempt/write any four parts)
(B) (a)“If you consider the 24 hours geological clock with the origin of life set at midnight, we can say that humans have come on this planet just less than a minute ago.” Explain the statement in the light of history of life on earth. (See Lesson -20)
(b) Identify the type of epithelial tissue from its location in human body as given below. Write its name and any one function of each
(i) Epithelial tissue that forms outermost layer of skin.
(ii) Epithelial tissue that forms Inner lining of the stomach and the intestine.(See Lesson-21)
6.Prepare any one out of the Project given below:
(a) A bimetallic strip is a strip having two layers of two different metals one over the other. It bends on heating as shown in the figure given below. You may also design one at home and observe it bending on heating.
By using the values of Coefficient of Linear expansion given in the Table, answer the questions that follows it:
(i) Suppose a bimetallic strip made of brass and iron is taken. The initial length of both the brass and iron strip was equal to 10 cm at room temperature (25°C). Calculate the difference between the length of brass and iron strip, when the temperature of bimetallic strip becomes 75 °C after heating.
(ii) If the following diagrams represents different bimetallic strips with their initial length. Draw the diagram of these bimetallic strips in your response sheet, when these are heated to the sufficiently high temperature,
iii) Home appliances like electric iron, geyser, etc. get automatically switched off after some time, when their temperature increases beyond a specific value. This is possible because of a special device that makes use of a bimetallic strip, which is fitted inside these appliances. Name the device. Explain its construction and working with the help of simple schematic diagram. (See Lesson - 14)
(b) Explore about the vehicles that runs on conventional fossil fuels and the vehicles that runs on electricity. Write a report of your findings which should include detailed comparative analysis of the two types of vehicles.
(Hints: Compare about Advantages, disadvantages, impact on environment, Limitations, challenges, future perspectives, sustainable development, etc.)
Also, explain how the electric vehicles can be a game changer and provide solution to the challenge of fossil fuel dependence.
(See Lesson-12)
